Unfortunately there was no yak for breakfast today instead we had to make do with egg on toast. Suffiently fueled with made our way to Jiuzhaigou scenic park. The park is around 60k of lakes, waterfalls and rivers. The coloured lakes were mesmerising, it’s hard to convey how clear the water is, let’s say ’super’ clear. That works.
We wandered through an enchanted and magical forest and got to see the all the oranges and yellows of the changing maple trees, dropping their delicate leaves like confetti in to the rolling streams and bubbling rocks under our feet. Oh dear, sorry about that I went a flowery then, let’s just say it was pretty, shall we.
We walked our legs off and the highlight for us was standing in front of a stunning, cascading and awsome waterfall.
For lunch we headed to the main tourist centre, and grabbed a plate from the buffet. Over our food we got chatting with a couple who came from Columbo (we can’t remember what it’s called now), they were fun to talk to. He asked what was the thing we disliked the most about China, it turned out that the spitting in public was a common one (they do that a lot!). We left our new friends to tackle the other side of the park.
We visited Panda lake, so called because Pandas used to live there, Tiger lake, so called because the reflection of the trees looks like Tiger fur and a number of others before heading to a Tibetan village within the park to have a look around at the houses and shops.
It was a busy and tiring day. Another early night for us with an early start and a lot of walking again tomorrow.
